At Flare, safety isn’t just about physical protection – it also includes mental wellbeing.

The demanding nature of the oil and gas industry, combined with the challenges of working in high-pressure environments, can take a toll on mental health. Recognising this, we’ve launched Flare Cares, a comprehensive initiative designed to foster a culture of openness, support, and resilience among our employees.

Breaking the Stigma: Encouraging Open Conversations

Mental health is still a sensitive topic, especially in male-dominated industries like ours. With Flare Cares, we’re taking active steps to dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage our employees to speak up.

One key initiative is our Walk and Talk sessions. These sessions provide employees with a structured yet informal way to discuss concerns while engaging in light physical activity. Walking has been proven to boost mood and mental clarity, making it an effective way to open up conversations. So far, the response has been overwhelmingly positive, with team members appreciating the opportunity to share their thoughts in a relaxed setting.

Practical Support Through Ongoing Resources

To ensure employees have access to practical mental health support, we’ve integrated wellbeing tips into our company newsletters. These serve as a valuable resource, offering actionable strategies for stress management, resilience-building, and overall mental well-being. By providing ongoing guidance, we empower our team to take proactive steps toward maintaining their mental health.

Sustainability and Community Engagement: A Holistic Approach

Beyond internal well-being, Flare Cares extends to sustainability and community engagement. As part of our commitment to reducing our environmental impact, we’re distributing reusable water bottles to our team to help cut down on plastic waste. We’ve also launched litter-picking initiatives, reinforcing our dedication to cleaner, healthier communities.

In addition, we’re strengthening our ties with local charities by providing funding and exploring new ways to contribute to mental health causes. Future plans include organising fundraising events and group walks to support mental health awareness—because well-being goes beyond the workplace.

Creating a Healthier, More Supportive Work Environment

At Flare, we believe that a supportive workplace leads to a stronger, more engaged team. Through Flare Cares, we’re actively fostering a culture that prioritises well-being, encourages open dialogue, and contributes to a healthier industry overall.

By integrating mental health support, sustainability efforts, and community initiatives, we’re setting a new standard for workplace well-being in the energy sector. And this is just the beginning.
